P: Thank you for coming today Fire Chief Darrel, how are you?

D: My pleasure, I’m good thank you how about you?

P: I’m great thank you, let me introduce my good friends; Fernando, Akash and Liam.

D: Nice to meet you, gentlemen.

F, L, A: Nice to meet you (they say it collectively)

P: If I may ask you Darrel, how is it commanding a fire brigade?

D: It’s a dream to tell you the truth, I love my job but sometimes it can be extremely stressful.

F: Can you give us examples please?

D: Of course, but this can be subject of which it can be hard to take in information.

A: Of course, if you need a while just relax you’re more welcome to Darrel.

D: That won’t be necessary I’ll be fine. Well, one of them, actually not one of the heaviest and stressful worries I have is the absolute safety of my firefighters, every day when they leave and I hear that siren, my heart just sinks.

It may be because I’ve had good friends pass, and just to add, what fires do to people is like something straight out of a movie.

L: Wow, just wow I didn’t know firemen carry such a heavy heart, I thank you for your service. 

D: No need to thank me.

P: Another question we have is, have you lost anyone close?

D: “sigh” yes, I actually lost my brother last year the matter of a fact, although he’s not a fireman, his house burned to the ground while he was asleep, all that was left of him was she charcoal remains.

P: I feel deep sorrow, i’m sorry for your loss Darrel.

D: It’s okay, we all meet our time eventually you know.

F: Darrel, may we ask another question?

P: How prepared are firefighters in the case of a natural disaster?

We may be working hard, but there’s always room for improvement.

P: What can you reccomend to people that are trying to prepare for a natural disaster?

D: Well there are many ways to prepare for the worst.

But in my opinion the best way to prepare for the worst it to have multiple plans. Because if you place all your bets on that one plan and it fails you can be in some very hot water.
